Suspenders

Suspenders is a clothing item that has always fascinated me and made me want to have a pair of my own.

Last night I got my wish.
I. Own. Suspenders!

I'm not talking about the boy kind..more like the girl kind that are connected to shorts.

Examples:

Example#1:

These look like mine only the shorts are red and the material is corduroy.

Generation

A rant about my generation and such:

I'm very worried about my generation. Fashion and expectation wise.

I mean seriously when you see teenage girls what are they like?
They text, text, and text.
They gossip, gossip, and gossip.
They flip, flip, their hair.
They get into drugs.
They get pregnant.
They drink.

At least thats what our culture says.

This is what you hear about teenage girls. You judge them automatically. You don't give them a chance. Your expectations are very low for them. And you suppose if they take the wrong path they will never be able to get back up again.

As a teenage girl I find this very hard to swallow. These are your expectations for us? This is what we do?
Honestly, if we put our minds to things we do it.
Our culture for teenagers has a very low expectations..you hear our culture say, "teenagers don't care about anything but their social life and cell phones."
Thats the expectation you give us.
Instead of high expectations you give us low expectations and don't expect us to do anything.
Since you don't believe in us we just fill the low expectations and don't work hard at anything else.
Thats what our culture is.
Teenagers have a lot of potential. But do they use it? No.

Anyway about fashion some of the fashion is awesome other fashion...not so much. I'll show you what I mean:

Did you see the outfits from the Alexander Wang Spring 2011 Runway collection?

It was quite different and some outfits reminded me of spider webs. But anyway least favorites...favorites:

Favorites:

I really like how this outfits is all white. It's simple yet sophisticated.
                                                                      Lovely.

I love the white shoes and the see-through top.

The corset makes it look feminine and the pants makes it look effortless.

The top reminds me of Switzerland and snowboarding. The colors make the outfit bright while the skirt ties everything together.

I like how this looks business women-ish but the fabric is waterproof and the coat is kind of dirt biker-ish.
<3333 the shoes.

I think I'm in love. Is it legal to marry the coat, the bag, AND the shoes?

Least favorites:

The first outfit has some tufts of fabric at the hips and honestly, it makes me think of flubber coming out of the dress.

The second, literally makes me cringe. Maybe if it was on a different model I would like it but...ahh the way the hat is on the girls head the hunched shoulders...

Yuck.

Other than those, I liked most of the outfits.

Anyway enough on the runway clothes...back to generation....

Sometimes when I look at pictures of runway shows a lot of the clothes look kind of robotic and futuristic.
And some outfits just look down right terrible and monster-ish.
I don't know if you notice this but a lot of the models don't look like humans.
Fashion is about expressing yourself with your CLOTHES. Clothes, ya know, things you can actually wear.
If you want to go make a robot thing go make a diorama.
Because can you actually imagine people wearing robotic things? I mean perfect for Halloween but everyday? I don't think so. Now I love weird and wacky fashions, don't get me wrong but some things that come on runways just make me cringe. Is this supposed to be for human beings to wear? What are they thinking?

Some fashion is too much. Another reason why I'm worried about my generation.

*end of rant*

"Most people don't expect you to understand what we're going to tell you in this book. And even if you understand, they don't expect you to care. And even if you care, they don't expect you to do anything about it. And even if you do something about it, they don't expect it to last. Well, we do.........

This is a different type of teen book. Check online or walk through your local bookstore. You'll find plenty of books written by fortysomethings who, like, totally understand what it's like being a teenager. You'll find a lot of cheap throwaway books for teens because young people today aren't supposed to care about books or see any reason to keep them around. And you'll find a wide selection of books where you never have to read anything twice-because the message is dumbed-down. Like, just for you.

What you're holding in your hands right now is a challenging book for teens by teens who believe our generation is ready for a change. Ready for something that doesn't promise a whole new life if you'll just buy the right pair of jeans or use the right kind of deodorant. We believe our generation is ready to rethink what teens are capable of doing and becoming. And we've noticed that once wrong ideas are debunked and cleared away, our generation is quick to choose a better way, even if it's also more difficult."

Harem pants

There comes a time in every person's life when they must decide what to wear.
You have two options.
One, dress like a NORMAL person and BLEND in.
Two, Screw normal-I'm wearing BALLOON PANTS.

Ok, now that we got to the balloon pants I just wanted to say in my defense that I didn't think they looked like balloon pants(Yes, I wore balloon pants to school today) until my teacher told me.

Great, I don't even look like high fashion. Just some dork wearing balloon pants. Perfect.

I don't even know if they're called balloon pants. But this is what they looked like:

Ok, now I think I know what its called...Harem pants?

If I had known they were called Harem pants I would have felt better about myself and corrected my teacher. But instead, I went through that whole afternoon thinking how dorky I looked in balloon pants.

I just wish I could pull off something like this^^!!!!!!

But me, being so short, I would only look like a joker. *sigh*

But before I got the "balloon pants idea" I thought I did pretty good. I paired the pants(they had a 70's pattern as shown above) with my high top converse and a mustard yellow beanie. It sounds kind of lame, but the outfit looked pretty nice.

But at least I was able to go to school without  TOO many weird looks at my pants.

I bet inside all the kids at my school are secretly jealous that they don't have the courage to stand out and thus, wear balloon pants.
